It's Getting Colder!

The weather is getting colder! So, Elijah got to try on one of his winter hats today. It was so adorable that I just had to take his picture and post it on here. This was a really busy day for us (and for Eli!) This morning, Elijah had his first portrait taken (well, his first individual portrait). The lady who did it was really wonderful with him, and we got some really awesome pictures! We even got one of his "pouty face!" We also ordered them to be sent via e-mail, so I'll get those in a few days--about a week before we get the prints, so I'll be able to post them on here soon! Then, I picked out new glasses and had an eye exam, so now I'll have brand new glasses plus new prescription sunglasses in a couple days! :) Perfect now that I can drive again starting tomorrow!! Where is my Baby Hannah?

For some reason, when I looked at Hannah yesterday, she just looked so much older! I kindof decided that it's because she was wearing jeans, which just made her look tall and thin. She usually likes to wear dresses and skirts, so those don't make her look as old, I guess! But when I saw her yesterday, I was just like "WOW! You are getting so grown up!" So, I just had to take a couple pictures of her. I also can't believe that it's coming up on her fifth birthday in just over a month! We've decided to have her birthday party at the Madison Children's Museum. Should be fun! But wow...take a look at this "big girl!"

Playdates

It's Saturday! Hannah has a much anticipated playdate at her friend Tayla's house, so her afternoon is spent there. That left time for Elijah to have a nice, long nap upstairs as Grammie and Gabah watched some football, and for me to have a nice, long nap downstairs BY MYSELF! :) It also left time for Elijah and I to have our own little "playdate." Here are a couple pictures...

The Exersaucer

Elijah has really been getting used to his Exersaucer. His favorite toy on there is the little truck. You have to push the monkey on top to get it to light up and play music. He LOVES it when you push it!! He's really been trying to do it himself, but it's hard! He did it a couple times last night, but I think it was kindof by chance. He also likes the elephant (he likes to chew on it), the mirror, the zebra (it's fuzzy), and the rattle toys.

Surgery and the aftermath...

I never thought that Hannah was good at handling pain. I always thought of her as being a complainer and not being able to deal with it at all. Boy...did I EVER misjudge this girl! She was so brave during the surgery, and her recovery has been absolutely amazing. She has hardly complained at all about being in pain, although we know she must be. Sometimes she says that it hurts when she swallows, but not very often. She's been up and about, playing in her playroom, playing outside, running around like she did before the surgery. Not weak at all. Eating...drinking...not much interest at all in ice cream (!!!) or popsicles. She ate a lot of oatmeal and yogurt afterwards and has been eating homemade mac and cheese. She wants grilled cheese, but we won't give it to her yet. They said to keep her home for a week, but we're thinking about sending her to school Monday...at least for part of the day...because she just has so much energy and needs to use it up!! But we're just very proud of her.
Elijah is doing great, too. He's been playing and smiling a lot. We put him in the Exersaucer for the first time, and he loved it! He was so curious about all the sights and sounds!! Each time we put him in, he "gets it" more and more. Now, he's able to use his feet to turn himself around in it. And, he can use his hands to reach for the toys. He's really growing!! Things are going great here!! Now if I can just get things cleaned up here...having Hannah home playing constantly for the past few days has made it look like a tornado has gone through!!

Buddy and Eli

Buddy sure does love Elijah! He was this way with Hannah, too. Whenever Elijah is within reach, Buddy just MUST lick him! And whenever Eli has been laying somewhere and I've picked him up, Buddy just has to sniff and lick wherever he had been laying. These pictures were taken last night...on the eve of Elijah turning 3 months old! He sure is growing up! And keep Hannah in your thoughts...Wednesday is her tonsil surgery. We went to the hospital today to learn about the details of the surgery and to get her physical. The nurse's description of the recovery was quite a bit more severe than we had anticipated. She said it could be up to two weeks before she feels better! Yikes! We'll hope for the best, though! I'll keep you posted. :)

Apple Picking

We went apple picking yesterday afternoon! It was really fun! We picked some VERY tasty apples--they must taste better fresh from the tree because they were awesome! :) The only bad thing was that when we were driving home, I felt something crawling on my arm and looked down and saw a tick crawling on me. EWWW!! Needless to say, we all came home and showered! When I washed Hannah's hair, I found another tick. Makes me shudder just thinking about it. Anyway, we will be enjoying our apples for a long time! :)
