Eli's First Ear Infection

Well, it had to happen sometime. Eli caught his first cold/cough over the weekend (from Hannah, who has had it for a week or two). He had a lot of trouble sleeping at night, and it got progressively worse. By Tuesday night, I couldn't put him into his crib without him screaming, and I couldn't get him to eat solids at all. We spent all of Tuesday night sleeping on the couch. So, I took him to the doctor on Wednesday morning, and she said that he had a very nasty ear infection in one ear and one starting in the other ear. So, now he's on antibiotics and is already starting to feel better. Unfortunately, I now have a sore throat, so I guess I'm next on the "cold list." Inevitable, I'm sure, from being sleep deprived and covered in Eli snot and drool!

Spinning With Eli

Maybe this was funnier in person, but Hannah brought her Sit-N-Spin downstairs last week, and somehow Elijah ended up on his tummy next to it, and loved just putting his arm out and spinning it. He did this for a really long time, but as is always the case, as soon as I pulled out the video camera to record it, he decided he was done with it. But I got a few seconds of it to share. :) (and now that I've really got the hang of how to put videos onto the computer, I'll probably be posting more of them!) :)

Valentine's Day '09

The kids had a really fun Valentine's Day this year! It started out with some really adorable portraits. Then, Hannah got to decorate cookies for her school's Valentine's Day party. I was pretty hesitant to do homemade cookies, but she really loved decorating them. On the morning of Valentine's Day, I gave Eli a bath and messed with his hair, making it all spikey, which I found hugely hilarious (and adorable). Then, in the evening, the kids and I had dinner with Grammie and Gabah and we all exchanged cards, and Hannah got some candy and some new paints for her easel (red and white to create pink.) Elijah especially loved his Valentine's Day cards because they were so fun to chew!!!

Hannah's Piano Play-A-Thon

Today, Hannah got to play a piano piece at the mall! They were doing a fund raiser called "Key Up for Kids" to raise money for the American Family Children's Hospital, which is where Hannah had her tonsils out. Hannah, along with 17 other students of Ms. Joanna, performed at Hilldale Mall here in Madison. We were so proud of Hannah--she did such a great job, and was quite the charmer, too! She played "Hot Cross Buns" with her teacher, Ms. Joanna, accompanying. She also was extremely well-behaved while watching all the other students perform! Click on the video below to watch her performance!

Movement?

Eli has started to show some interest in crawling! Yikes! He's been flipping and flopping around on the floor, and has even managed to find his way up onto his knees a few times! I think it won't be too long now 'til he's mobile. Bring on the baby gates! He's also been really having fun with toys--more and more all the time. Before, he would just kindof look at them wondering what in the world they were there for. Now he actually interacts with them. Well, at least his mouth does. :)
